CSR
At Nørrebro Teater, we are committed to a more sustainable and socially responsible way of running our theatre. We aim to care for our shared future – both environmentally and socially.
Environmental Initiatives
Nørrebro Teater actively seeks to contribute to a greener future. In collaboration with Betty Nansen Teatret, Folketeatret, and Østerbro Teater, we are undergoing a green transition to offer audiences a more sustainable theatre experience.
Results
Since 2018, we have reduced our:
- Electricity consumption by 38%
- Heating consumption by 25%
- Water consumption by 60%
This corresponds to an overall CO₂ reduction of approximately two-thirds—an important step towards a more climate-friendly theatre.
Sustainable Production
We continuously work to reduce resource consumption and waste in our productions. This includes the following principles:
- Each production aims to use at least 50% recycled materials in set design and props
- All wood must be FSC-certified
- Set pieces and props are reused in new productions or given a second life
- Costumes, props, and set elements are stored for reuse in our external storage and production facilities
- We avoid car transport whenever possible
- We follow the guidelines set out in the Theatre Green Book. Read more: Other Languages – Danish | Theatre Green Book
- We are currently developing a shared props chatbot together with the other theatres in the Copenhagen Theatre Collaboration, enabling us to share materials rather than purchase new ones
- We maintain close dialogue with our artistic teams to ensure that each production takes a sustainable direction.
