Accessibility
At Nørrebro Teater, we are committed to a more sustainable and socially responsible way of running our theatre. We want to care for our shared future, both environmentally and socially.
Accessibility
We want everyone to feel welcome at Nørrebro Teater, whether you are living with a disability, need additional support, or simply prefer a calmer environment. Our theatre is open to all, and we are continually working to create the best possible setting for a safe and accessible theatre experience.
ACCESSIBLE SEATING FOR WEELCHAIR USERS
There is one accessible seat for wheelchair users in the auditorium. It is located in the box to the left of the stage, near row 3, with a restricted view of the stage.
For selected performances and events, the seating can be purchased online; for others, it can only be booked by contacting Nørrebro Teater at billetter@nbt.dk.Please note that the companion seat is the outermost seat in row 3, and you will not be seated directly next to your companion.
For events held in the theatre foyer, there are up to five accessible seatings for wheelchair users. These can be purchased online.
Access to the auditorium
Wheelchair access to the auditorium is provided via a stair lift operated by staff. To use the lift, you must arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance begins. Please contact staff at the bar upon arrival.
The lift platform measures 99 × 77 cm and is equipped with automatic safety flaps and rails on three sides, which must be in place for the lift to operate. This mean that wheelchairs with more than two pairs of wheels, oxygen equipment or similar, or users who require footrests to remain in the lowest position at all times, may not have sufficient space on the lift.Access to the foyer
The foyer at Nørrebro Teater is located at street level and is accessible for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. During events in the foyer, café tables and loose seating will be arranged to ensure ample space around you. On the same level, you will find the cloakroom, bar, and accessible toilet facilities.ESSENTIAL COMPANION SCHEME
Holders of an official companion card, issued by the Danish Disability Organisations, the Danish Association of the Blind, or equivalent organisations, are entitled to a complimentary companion ticket for performances and events at Nørrebro Teater.
In the auditorium, there is one companion seat associated with the wheelchair space. In the foyer, there are up to five companion seats available in connection with the wheelchair spaces. Companion seats can be booked online together with wheelchair seating for selected performances and events; for others, they can be requested by contacting Nørrebro Teater at billetter@nbt.dk.
Companion seats that are not booked in conjunction with wheelchair seating must be requested by contacting Nørrebro Teater at billetter@nbt.dk.
THE SUNFLOWER PROGRAMME
Nørrebro Teater is part of the Sunflower Programme, helping to raise awareness of invisible disabilities and to make theatre visits easier for people with hidden conditions and disabilities. The Sunflower lanyard is designed to support both those living with invisible disabilities and those around them, making it easier to offer consideration and assistance where needed. It allows individuals to discreetly signal that they may require additional time, support, or understanding.
You can collect a free Sunflower lanyard by speaking to our front-of-house staff upon arrival at the theatre.
Read more about the Sunflower Programme here.
CONSIDERATE SEATING
Nørrebro Teater offers designated seats for guests with neurodivergence or social anxiety who may find it difficult to attend events with large crowds. These seats are located at the back of the auditorium in row 24 (seats 22 and 24, or 23 and 25).
If you wish to use these seats, you may arrive just before the performance begins, once all other guests have taken their seats, so you do not have to wait among large crowds. Upon arrival, please speak to a member of staff at the bar and let them know that you have booked a designated quiet seat. Five minutes before the performance starts, a member of our front-of-house team will escort you to your seat at the back of the auditorium via our rear entrance. You will be seated on the back row, close to the exit, allowing you to leave the auditorium easily and discreetly if needed.
We hope that these designated seats will help make your theatre visit feel safe and comfortable, so you can fully enjoy the performance.
These seats can be booked either directly via www.nbt.dk or by contacting billetter@nbt.dk. Please note that availability is limited and seats may be sold out.
We kindly ask that you contact us at billetter@nbt.dk no later than two days before your visit, so we can ensure everything is prepared for your arrival.
ASSISTANCE DOG
At Nørrebro Teater, you are welcome to bring your assistance dog. We kindly ask that your dog is a trained assistance dog or currently in training. Your dog must also be clearly identified with a “working dog” vest or similar.
If you wish to purchase a ticket with space for your assistance dog, please contact billetter@nbt.dk. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the theatre one hour before the performance, and only for performances taking place that same day. Please note that availability is limited and tickets may be sold out.
FM EQUIPMENT
Do you have hearing loss and need additional equipment to enhance your listening experience in the auditorium?
For all performances and events at Nørrebro Teater, you can reserve assistive listening equipment free of charge.- Wireless FM system (a receiver with adjustable volume and a set of headphones). Each receiver connects to a pair of headphones, which can be borrowed from Nørrebro Teater. You are also welcome to bring your own headphones for improved sound quality; these must have a mini-jack plug.
- Personal induction loop (a small neck loop, primarily for users with significant hearing loss). Please note that low-frequency humming may occur when using the neck loop. This is caused by external noise from the technical installations in the auditorium. The personal neck loop transmits sound directly to your hearing aid, provided it has a telecoil and a compatible programme.
- DT 770 Pro headphones, offering a higher level of sound amplification.
The FM system replaces the previous induction loop system.
The FM equipment, including headphones, is available to borrow free of charge. It can be reserved online when purchasing tickets at www.nbt.dk or by contacting billetter@nbt.dk.
HOW TO USE THE FM EQUIPMENT
The FM equipment and personal induction loops have been made possible in partnership with the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, with support from Oticon Medical.
We understand that individual needs may vary, and we encourage you to get in touch if there is anything we can do to support your experience at our performances and events.
If you have any questions regarding accessibility in connection with your visit, please contact our box office at billetter@nbt.dk.
You are also welcome to call us on +45 88 53 41 28 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10:00–11:00).
Social Initiatives
Nørrebro Teater is committed to supporting NGOs and organisations that make a difference. We are pleased to offer our venue and platform to meaningful initiatives, while continuously working to improve accessibility at the theatre.
Over the years, Nørrebro Teater has collaborated with, for example:
AutismGoTo
Nørrebro Teater is part of AutismGoTo and has developed a social story about the theatre, tailored to people with autism and those in their network. The social story can help make it easier to plan and carry out a theatre visit.
You can download the social story here.
In addition to the social story, we have created an information page with practical details about Nørrebro Teater. You can download it here.
Goldschmidt Musikakademi
Goldschmidt is a safe and creative space for vulnerable children and young people, where music is used as a tool to strengthen self-esteem, foster a sense of community, and promote cultural understanding. Nørrebro Teater has hosted Goldschmidt’s annual summer concerts.
Muskelsvindfonden
Muskelsvindfonden and Nørrebro Teater have maintained a long-standing partnership, through which we highlight a wide range of complex challenges facing both individuals and society—particularly in relation to body culture, mental health, and well-being—through talks, conversations, and other events.
Psykinfo
PsykInfo’s annual festival Don’t Fear The Weird embraces the unconventional mind and brings language to topics often considered taboo. In 2025, Nørrebro Teater collaborated with PsykInfo and took part in that year’s Don’t Fear The Weird festival.
Black to Normal
Black to Normal is a festival whose mission is to support and promote Afro-Danish performing arts of high artistic quality, while creating inclusive cultural experiences for all. In 2025, Nørrebro Teater hosted talks and community meet-ups as part of the Black to Normal festival.
Fuldt Hus
Together with cultural institutions across Denmark, we take social responsibility through the Fuldt Hus initiative. We donate unsold tickets to socially vulnerable individuals, enabling more people to experience the sense of community that theatre can offer.
Organisations such as Danner, the Salvation Army, and Hus Forbi regularly receive tickets through the scheme.
Fuldt Hus works to create space within the cultural community for people in vulnerable life situations by supporting their participation in cultural life.
Kulturpasaktør
Nørrebro Teater is a participant in the Cultural Pass scheme and is committed to opening its doors to new communities for young people in vulnerable situations. The Cultural Pass provides young people aged 15 to 24 with access to cultural experiences across the country—within art, theatre, music, sport, and much more.
Late Sale
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience theatre. That is why we offer Late Sale tickets for just DKK 115, including ticket fees (excluding a DKK 15 order fee), for selected performances.
