What happens when a musician and visual artist unfold their art together on the theatre stage?

Performed Concerts explores this as the rising, Danish musician Østen and the acclaimed set designer Rosa Birkedal together will create a unique performative experience, with the premiere of Østen’s upcoming album at Nørrebro Teater.

With Østen on stage, the personal stories in the music come alive in a compelling live performance. Østen and Rosa Birkedal creates an immersive experience letting music and staging melt together. The audience can expect an intense concert not being just spectators but feeling like part of the songs.

The concert will premiere Østen’s upcoming album. The unreleased album explores the attempt to embrace happiness, finding a sense of a good life while carrying the awareness that it rarely lasts – letting the light in while waiting for the rain.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Østen (b. 1998) has quickly established himself as a rising talent, known for his energetic live performances, strong vocals and lyrical depth, highlighted by his nomination for Talentprisen at P3 Guld 2025. Since his debut single, the P3’s Uundgåelige ‘Regn’ with more than 5 million streams, Østen has also been nominated for Carl Prisen with Song of the Year and Talent of the Year 2025.
The debut album Daylight (2024) exploring themes such as rootlessness, depression and yearning for light, received widespread critical acclaim and was included on Soundvenue’s list of the best Danish albums of the year.

Rosa Birkedal (b. 1988) is a Danish set and lightning designer, who has worked on numerous theatre productions in Denmark and Germany. She graduated from the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland, which is one of the largest artistic universities in Europe. Birkedal is a prominent voice among the younger generation of stage artists, driven by an exploratory approach to making art engaging – both through its themes and physical presence.

ABOUT PERFORMED CONCERTS
Performed Concerts seeks to break down the traditional boundaries of how art and culture are presented and experienced. On the stage of Nørrebro Teater, the rhythmic concert is explored and challenged through encounters with a visual artist – whether a contemporary artist, filmmaker, or designer – to investigate what happens when the traditional concert format is transformed through a visual and performative approach developed specifically for the theatre.
