Miranda July in conversation with Lotte Folke Kaarsholm
Nørrebro Teater presents a conversation with multidisciplinary artist Miranda July, who in recent years has established herself as one of the most uncompromising voices of her generation.
In her work, Miranda July explores themes such as intimacy, human relationships, and the complexity of modern life. Her bestselling novel All Fours (2024), about sex, motherhood, divorce, and menopause, was included on The New York Times list of best books of the year and was named Book of the Year by, among others, The New York Times, Vogue, and the Financial Times.
Journalist Lotte Folke Kaarsholm will base the conversation on Miranda July’s body of work as an artist, filmmaker, actor, and writer.
The conversation is presented in connection to the exhibition In the Presence of Others at Nørrebro Teater and will be conducted in English.
Miranda July (b. 1974, USA) is an award-winning film director, author, performance artist, and multimedia creator. With roots in the feminist West Coast punk and riot grrrl scene of the 1990s, July has since developed a practice shaped by a DIY ethos. A common denominator in her works is that she, in her own words has described as a conversation with the universe, examines every day encounters in order to explore themes such as loneliness, lust, and human vulnerability.
Her work has led to, among other things, a solo exhibition at the Whitney Biennale in 2002, a Camera d’Or at Cannes, and a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005. In 2024, her first solo museum exhibition was held in Milan by Fondazione Prada, and she was named to Time Magazine’s 2025 list of the 100 Most Influential People.
Lotte Folke Kaarsholm (b. 1975) is a Danish journalist and Opinion editor at Politiken. She has previously hosted DR’s Deadline and served as an editor at Information.
