The Many Forms of Power – A Conversation on the Future of Democracy
Over the past 25 years, Danish society has undergone major transformations. Inequality has increased, digital developments have revolutionised the media, the pace of Danish politics has accelerated, and international changes continue to ripple across borders. In other words, the conditions for our democracy have changed significantly. This calls for a reassessment of democratic structures. The Danish Parliament has commissioned this task to an independent research leadership through the project Magtudredningen 2.0, which now presents its status report on the state of democracy.
Join us as the Folkeuniversitetet invites you to a democratic review of The Many Forms of Power, bringing together researchers, politicians, business leaders, and media representatives for a conversation about power—and how we sustain a strong democracy.
On this evening, Lars Trier Mogensen welcomes you to a critical reflection on The Many Forms of Power. The event begins with three researchers presenting the latest findings from Power Investigation 2.0: Lene Holm Pedersen, Professor of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen; Jacob Ørmen, Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Copenhagen; and Niels Opstrup, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern Denmark.
In the second half, the discussion expands to include Stinus Lindgreen, Member of the Danish Parliament for the Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre); Sarah Vergo, Chair of DJØF; Adam Wolf, outgoing CEO of Danish Regions; Allan Boye Thulstrup, Chair of the Danish Union of Journalists; and Sarah Steinitz, Research Consultant at the Crown Princess Mary Center. Together, they will explore democracy, power, and influence in Denmark.
